National Honor Society 2016-2017
The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes and encourages outstanding students. The NHS recognizes students who display accomplishments in the following areas: academic achievement, leadership, character, and service.
At the Goodhue High School students in grades 10-12 who have a grade point average of 3.5 or greater are sent a letter in early December inviting them to apply for selection. This selection form is evaluated and then selection is done by the seven member faculty council.
Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate the four pillars of the organization. (leadership, character, service and scholarship.) An induction ceremony is then held in the spring.
Members must continue with service projects within the school/community. These projects must fulfill a need within the school or community, have the support of the administration/faculty, be appropriate, be well planned, organized and executed, and finally evaluated.
If a person is selected and falls below the standards for which they were selected they may be promptly warned or dismissed by the Faculty Council.
