Good classroom attendance is a critical factor in students being successful in school. By state law, all school-aged students are required to attend school.

Parents, please review the following attendance information.

  • Parents/guardians should call the attendance line at 651.923.4447 or email the school secretaries. For elementary email office@goodhue.k12.mn.us or high school bkelly@goodhue.k12.mn.us to report an absence by 9:00 am.

  • Parents must report absences due to appointments before the scheduled appointment (unless emergency).

  • Parents have 24 hours to excuse a student from school. Absences not cleared will be unexcused.

  • Doctor/Dentist notes can be given directly to the office upon a student's return to school.

  • A student in a sport/activity who is absent from school for any part of the day for illness will not be permitted to practice or perform that day.

  • A school has the right to accept or deny a parent/guardian’s application for an excused absence.

Examples of excused absences include: illness, medical/dental/mental health appts, death of a family member, family emergency, and religious holidays.

Examples of unexcused absences include: oversleeping, missing the bus, babysitting, shopping, work outside the home, beauty appointments, and extended travel.
